The hilly, terraced landscape of Goriška Brda, with its exceptional location, produces excellent red and white wines. No wonder, then, that the region's wines have already won numerous international awards, attesting to the high quality and growing reputation of the region among wine lovers and wine experts around the world. The region and its wines have impressed many wine critics, who have described Goriška Brda as a must-visit wine region.
The vineyards range from the lower slopes of the valleys to the higher slopes, where some of the best positions for wine production are also to be found. The wines of Goriška Brda, which are certainly characterised by “opoka” (i.e. marl soil), are characterised by their exceptional minerality, freshness and elegance, and express the unique terroir of the region. The most famous wine varieties that thrive in these vineyards are Rebula, Green Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
One of the major projects that expand the international recognition of the terroir and the autochthonous variety Rebula is the Masterclass Brda Home of Rebula.
