DOBROVO CASTLE

The castle in Dobrovo was built in the 13th century as a small non-fortified mansion.  A new Renaissance castle building was built most probably in mid-17th century a t its location, and has been preserved since as one of the most beautiful castles in the Goriška region.

On the first floor of the castle, you will find the Knights' Hall with the coats of arms of some of the noble families who owned the castle. The hall preserves a mural, probably representing the city of Genoa. Today, the Knights' Hall hosts many musical and other events, as well as weddings.

Dobrovo Castle is one of the most beautiful wedding venues in Goriška Brda. This Renaissance castle, surrounded by vineyards and offering views of the Brda landscape, provides a romantic and elegant setting for a civil wedding ceremony. Its historic architecture, picturesque castle courtyard, and unique atmosphere create an unforgettable experience for both the newlyweds and their guests.

Civil wedding ceremonies at Dobrovo Castle are free of charge, as the castle is officially registered as a venue for the performance of civil marriage ceremonies.

Dobrovo Castle is currently closed and is expected to remain so until mid-March 2026. Nevertheless, weddings at this location can already be registered with the Nova Gorica Administrative Unit.
