7th St. Martin’s Hike through Brda
09.11.2025 at 08:30
As part of this year’s St. Martin celebration in Brda, the PLANINSKO DRUŠTVO BRDA invites you on Sunday, 9th November, to the 7th St. Martin’s Hike, once again in a different part of Brda.
The trail will lead us along the Reka stream and then climb past the Brda antenna to the hamlet of Kozlink. From there, we will descend into the Fedrih stream valley. For a short time, we will walk along the Prvačnca tourist trail, but soon we will head towards Medana. Before reaching Medana, we will face a few climbs, so a stop in the village will be very welcome. At the first stop, we will rest and enjoy local Brda delicacies in solid and liquid form, including the traditional krodigine.
A more relaxed part of the trail will follow, as we will descend for a while. This will be the perfect opportunity to enjoy views of the near and distant surroundings. Our next destination will be Vipolže. Through the old part of the village, we will reach Villa Vipolže, where we may see the oldest cypresses in Slovenia. From there, the trail will lead towards the “New Castle” and then descend to the next stop, this time at the Benedetič winery. Here we will taste new wine and learn more about their offerings, with some snacks to help continue the hike.
Partly along field paths and partly on roads, our route will lead back towards Medana, bypass it, and continue to Dobrovo. We will walk through the abandoned hamlet of Medansko and climb a real Brda hill. At the top above Dobrovo, we will take time to enjoy the views before the final descent past the Castle to Klet Brda, where a St. Martin’s plate will await us.
Come and experience some of the secrets of autumn in Brda.
All participants join the hike at their own risk. The organizer is not responsible for accidents, injuries, or theft of personal belongings.
