Exhibition: Zoran Mušič – Landscapes of Bodies (Dobrovo Castle)

Until 30 November 2025, Dobrovo Castle in the heart of the Brda wine region hosts Landscapes of Bodies, an extraordinary exhibition by world-renowned painter and printmaker Zoran Mušič, born in Bukovica near Nova Gorica.

“You speak of the Traveller. A painter’s whole life is a kind of journey.” — Zoran Mušič

Zoran Mušič (1909–2005) is celebrated as one of the most important European artists of the 20th century. His powerful and poetic oeuvre left a lasting mark on Venice, Paris, and the international art scene.

Part of the GO! 2025 European Capital of Culture programme (pillar War and Peace), this exhibition offers a profound journey through Mušič’s work:

  • Drawings from Dachau (1945) and the haunting cycles Vegetative Motifs and We Are Not the Last, bearing witness to war, suffering, and death.
  • Later works, including self-portraits, portraits of Ida, Doppelgängers, the Traveller, the Philosopher, the Seated, and the Nude, where the body becomes fragile, almost ethereal — a mirror of the artist’s soul.

Having survived Dachau, Mušič transformed trauma into art: a unique fusion of landscapes of bodies and bodies of landscapes.

Opening hours: Wednesday – Sunday, holidays 10:00–18:00 (Monday, Tuesday - closed)
Tickets: €8 (adults), €5 (youth 7–18 & seniors), €15 (families)
