The primula auricula

Close to the village Golo Brdo, over the left bank of the Idrija River, stand steep limestone cliffs which are a unique feature in Brda.

Even more peculiar is that here, only 100 meters above the sea level, Primula auricula, a very pretty variety of the primrose, grows. This flower is a typical mountain flower.

The flower has been preserved from the ice age until today in the sunless part of the steep channel. The best time to admire the full blossoming of the flower is in late March or the beginning of April. The bridge over the pool next to the river is the ideal place to observe this beautiful primrose.
